Tree investigations

9D00B775-9F94-4832-BE61-4F21C201E3B2

At this time of year NCC receives an increase in the number of reports regarding trees and hedges.

Not all trees come under the care  & control of NCC.

We have been contacted by a number of residents who have reported concerns about trees and bushes on land controlled by Shenstone Properties Ltd

Residents have stated that the customer service provided by this company is exceptionally poor.

This is also the experience of  many residents and local authorities elsewhere in the Country.

We are working with officers from NCC to try and support our residents but with the lack of co operation from the company this is proving to be very frustrating.

We will continue to provide information as soon as we can.

Moor road

The last administration left us with a right nightmare of issues in this part of town, but as promised we are working through them.

Out doing home visits this sunny Sunday afternoon in #Prudhoe

Residents have contacted us about a range of issues.

A lot of very positive feedback about the high standard of the major road repairs on Moor road incl new lights, drainage & surface.

In between meetings collected 4 cones which had been left by a contractor, although NCC were awaiting them to to be collected, decided to pack them in the boot of the car and take them to the depot to tidy the place up.
#JobDone

(The roads around where the cones were have also had substantial investment in them).

After many years of neglect we are dealing with the backlog of many roads in need of investment, we don’t complain we just do it.

Internet connectivity

F57156EE-5C82-48B0-991D-8736CB873291.jpeg

Good connectivity is vital in this age for business & households.

The now familiar green boxes are not pretty but required.

This box has recently been installed on South road  Prudhoe where there was a particular major issue and it is now live and providing a good service to many homes and business.

To gain this additional box took us a lot of time and effort dealing with Openreach  nationally.

We are in discussions with NCC at a high level who are in turn are meeting  service providers nationally to push forward better connectivity throughout the County.

If you are experiencing issues with your broadband please contact your provider.

  • Several people have not realised that they must contact their provider (or a competitor if they wish to use fibre broadband, it does not just happen when a green box appears close to their premises.

There is a range of information available on the NCC iNorthumberland website to assist.

Reports of excess speed.

Residents inform us of speeding vehicles on a frequent basis.

The two roads mentioned most to us at the moment are those shown below.

One has traffic calming in place already and the other has been recently relaid, which some people think has caused some drivers to increase their speed.

The purpose of this post is simply remind drivers that there are various speed limits within the town and these are maximum.

If residents do report speeding incidents to us we will pass the information onto the Police, It would be quicker if residents contacted the Police directly to make sure that they are aware first hand.

Some reports we have received about what is thought to have been a speeding vehicle have taken several days for residents to make a report.

We can work with highways authorities experts & the Police to look at long term solutions if there are real concerns. This is a protracted process usually involving various forms of consultation and legal advice.

We are aware that the Police will soon be taking a proactive approach towards speeding in the town (in addition to their normal duties)

You can contact the Police in a variety of ways, it would assist if details of time / date / desc of the vehicle(s)/ location and direction were provided.

We do not discuss matters via social media but offer a range of methods for residents to contact Gordon & Ken their County Councillors.
