Update – As the Gateshead Council TRO was behind Northumberland there has been another delay – The latest date I have is now early October 2021.
From NCC Highways – with the lead in times for the signs we would look to have this work stated late sept / early oct and look to complete by the end of October – weather permitting for road marking works.
I sent a reminder to NCC Highways team asking for an update.
The officer devising the scheme was on secondment to NCC and has returned to his company.
A new officer has been allocated this and a few tweaks are being made to the plans.
As always as soon as I have updates to share I will share them here and on social media.
Update – 9/7/21
I share the concerns of residents about the delay in this scheme being Constructed, I have been promised an update will be provided early next week.

Notices are now on lamposts in the relevant streets and in the Hexham Courant.
This scheme has been progressed quickly due to agreement that well in excess of £30,000 would be taken from the County Cllrs small schemes allowances
(They receive 0nly £15k PA each so this is a major proportion towards one project)
We have today received the plan, which will give interested parties an outline of the proposal.
Due to the format they have been provided in they are not able to be viewed by the public on this page etc
We will update this site again when an appropriate version is received
The legal process is now ready to proceed with the normal notices being given online, locally displayed on lamposts etc and in the press.
The delivery of the scheme is ready to be programmed for a team to complete dependant upon their availabilty and no objections being made to the scheme.
This whole scheme has come in at around £40,000 so no insignificant sum.
The scheme has been progressed far quicker than the vast majority of such schemes in the County due to perseverance from us and the ability to transfer funding from other projects which will now have to be delayed.
The highways planning officers did not see the need for a reduced speed limit when the estate was built or when permission was granted for the new retail park, there is no record of a high number of accidents in the area so we have had to build up a strong business case.
Such schemes are usually programmed for years in advance and built into the local transport schemes.
As always we will keep the public informed when there are updates to provide.
*** Thank you to Adderlane Academy for designing part of the new signage **

** Updated 27/8/21 **
I continue to take into account residents views and also discuss progress with the NCC planning dept.
I ask that if any interested parties have not already submitted their opinion about this application to NCC they do so ASAP
A significant number of objections have been lodged by residents.
I can not disclose much of the update I have at this time but suffice to say the developer is aware of concerns and will be reviewing this application in the weeks to come.
It may come back with modifications or other action.
