The latest advice from the Government has made a very clear ask of us all and that is that we stay at home as much as we can, in order to slow the spread of Coronavirus. It is really important that you do all you can to maintain social distancing at this time.
We continue to work closely with PTC and the Covid 19 Prudhoe group and also other County Cllrs in the Tynedale area.
Please remember the Covid group are made up of local volunteers, and should only be used when there is no other support available.
A special mention today to everyone who is still working hard supporting the public be it from home or still in their normal places of work, NHS. Schools, Carers, Emergency services, utility providers, Production in factories etc, cleaners. Transport workers, Royal mail / post office teams and the people who are providing such great services in our shops making food and goods available for us all.
And of course NCC teams who continue to do such a great job.
We know it is not easy.
We are concerned about the many people who have lost their jobs suddenly and are struggling, we hope the support being provided will assist.
We are in contact with the DWP looking at opportunities for employment.
We are still receiving a very large number of calls and e mails and we are still responding to them quickly.
We also welcome regular contact from businesses, Schools, Churches, Police and other parts of the great Prudhoe community.

Pharmacies are extremely busy at the moment, dealing with additional requests from residents and also some may have reduced staffing levels.
The current self isolation of so many people is bringing additional problems.
We thought it best to share the latest update from the NCC CEO to give our residents a outline of what the NCC are doing in response to the crisis.
Our phones have been ringing on a very regular basis today, with a range of enquiries from businesses and residents.
We are dealing with all matters immediately.
Schools closed today and the Government have also announced huge financial support is being made to so many people and services.
We continue to receive a very large number of enquiries from residents, but only a few about the virus and its impact.
Yesterday the Government announced that Schools will be closed, but support for children will be maintained.

NCC has been working with Schools for weeks to prepare for this being announced.
NCC also is working closely with other service providers.

What should you do ?
Please adhere to the advice that the Government and medical experts give out, this is changing as more tests are being conducted.

DO NOT ignore the advice as you can put yourself and many other people at risk.
Prudhoe
There is an increasing number of people working from home or self isolating.
Already we are becoming aware of some issues with them being in confined areas, such as boredom & feeling low.
It would appear that many people are watching constant TV coverage & social media feeds about the virus and this is having a deep impact upon them.
There is a level of FAKE news on social media and some inappropriate comments, even locally.
This is very unhelpful in so many ways.

Many of these do nor relate to the County Council but other organisations such has housing providers & utility companies.
Residents are having issues getting through to them possibly due to an increased number of their staff working from home.
We are happy to assist residents but we are also encountering issues.
Virus
We all know that this is something that has not been experienced in modern times worldwide & is likely to continue for many weeks or months.
We are being asked by residents what they can do to support our community.
It would appear that this virus will be with us for a long period of time.
