Dog exercise area

As the new dog exercise area is being developed  we delighted to see that the bin has been removed from next to this seat and re-positioned a short distance away at the entrance to the park.

Small changes such as this make a big difference for the #PrudhoeCommunity

Reminders- please clear up after your dogs, free dog bags are available from the Miners lamp cafe for those signed up to the green dog walkers scheme.

Roadside adverts

ROADSIDE ADVERTISING

Comments have been made to the PTC which have been passed onto us regarding roadside advertising throughout the town.

The comments refer to the size and location of some.

If you are a business that is advertising in such a way can you please ensure the owners of the land have given their permission, the signs are in a good state and are not obscuring the view of the highway or premises.

It is clear to everyone that we are totally committed to supporting local business and encourage people to #ShopLocal Visit Prudhoe

Traffic issues

BABD4B76-013D-466E-8E6D-EC076654A12B.jpeg

Complaints have been received about a number of vehicles travelling at very high speed – both entering and leaving the 30mph area as shown in the photo.

This is not the case of a few miles above the limit but far greater.

The Police are now monitoring the speed of vehicles travelling along this road & taking positive action.

We have also enquired into the possibility of reducing the speed limit between the 30mph zone and the bypass.

Prudhoe tourism offer

We believe that Prudhoe has not taken advantage of the huge benefits of tourism which is now a massive part of the Northumberland economy.

We want to show off what is great about this fantastic town.

Yes people will think of Prudhoe Castle.

But we also have Cherryburn, fine walks along the riverside & beautiful woods, the revamped Eastwoods park.

Prudhoe Waterworld & The fuse including the Cinema

Our small family run businesses, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants.

One day events such as the Miners run & Town fair.

Not forgetting the fantastic Christmas lights.

Greater emphasis now on art & culture.

We are very #ProudOfPrudhoe and want to show the area off.

If we improve the tourism offer greater job opportunities will be created.

Increase in pride for all, we already know that Prudhoe is a great place to live work visit learn & invest in.

A town that has a long history but also aspirations, opportunities and ambition for all.

Traffic mirrors

Two suggestions have been made but the following advice has been given by NCC

Unfortunately, traffic mirrors are not prescribed by the DfT and cannot therefore be placed within the highway and if sited in such, would be classified as an illegal obstruction. However, this authority has no objection to private individuals placing mirrors on private land or on their own property. Obviously they will require permission from the land owner if the land does not belong to them and they are also advised to contact their local planning authority in case the mirror requires planning permission. For your information, the highway normally includes the road and any grass verges or footways up to a field/property fence or boundary wall.

Front Street Prudhoe

You told us you wanted the Front street road improved !

We listened and lobbied those that hold the purse strings at NCC.

A few people in Prudhoe were vocal and said it would never happen !

They were wrong.

Now Prudhoe has a high quality front street road surface.

A great job by a professional team.

One of the team  said that its been a pleasure to work in Prudhoe as the people have been so appreciative of the job being done and the high standard of work.

The new road surface is of a type that will reduce road noise.

Making front street a more pleasant area.

Helping to support #PrudhoeBusiness therefore retaining / creating #TynedaleJobs

And the wider #PrudhoeCommunity

The time of construction had to be in the evening to avoid huge disruption to so many people and business.

It took place during the early part of the week when the night time economy is not that great.

The number of days the work was carried out was greater than it could have been as the hours of work were  reduced to avoid disruption to the public during the early hours.

There is no other way to carry out the work than to use the most modern of equipment that is deployed.

Road closures have to be made to allow the work to progress and for public / workforce safety.

Residents and business located within the front street area had access through the roadworks if they asked the team at either end.

The road has been neglected for so many years and this is a massive investment in Prudhoe.

This is the latest in a number of major investments in the town over the last few months.

More investment is planned.

We have requested that a formal notice is placed on the road to prevent any non urgent / small scale utilities work being carried out on it,

The teams all worked extremely hard in very poor weather conditions.

Thank you to them all.
