The East centre

The ‘East’ is owned by Northumberland County Council.

In 2017 the building was marketed for sale by the previous administration, it was clear that no consultation had been made with the users, employees or others and the future of the main users the youth service was put in doubt.

This sale was stopped.

Since the new NCC administration was put into office a reassurance has been made to continue with a youth service in the town, although many authorities have now out sourced such provision.

We welcome the Prudhoe Youth Project working alongside the NCC youth service.

It is apparent that the building could do with a lot of investment after many years of inaction.

Prudhoe Town Council expressed an interest in transferring the asset over to their control.

Following a lot of discussions over many months and reports being prepared & then considered PTC have now decided not to progress with this idea.

The reason for their decision was down to the amount of investment needed and the debt being put onto Council tax payers.

NCC are now again looking at various options for the East Centre.

** There is confusion with some, and we wish to again reiterate that the NCC Youth service are being fully supported by NCC and their future is not in doubt, whatever happens to the building where they are located (the East) is separate **

We do not enter into discussions or take reports via social media but offer a range of  methods for residents to contact Gordon & Ken their County Cllrs
