Education

This page is currently under construction.

Education in our county is at a crossroads.

Unfortunately some of our schools are not performing as well as they should, with our county being ranked 132nd out of 151 councils across the country by Ofsted we are currently failing our children.

Issues such as middle and senior schools as well as post-16 transport are all hugely important for the education of our children and we must focus on improving the leadership of our schools and raising key educational standard across the county instead of trying to change structures.

We need to attract higher caliber senior and middle level teachers to the County to drive up standards by making Northumberland a more attractive proposition for ambitious teachers.

There are currently an excellent crop of hard working teachers doing their very best for young people and we will continue to work together with teachers and head teachers to improve standards.

We are  striving to ensure our Schools get a fair level of funding.
