Prudhoe Tourism

We believe that Prudhoe should be a destination for tourists and are working to raise its profile.

We asked Visit Northumberland why Prudhoe did not have a drop down bar on their website.

A reply has been received.

Dear Cllr Stewart

Thank you for your enquiry.

The towns shown on our drop down menu appear because of the number of recorded visitors they have had per annum.  We are working very hard to improve the number of visitors to the whole of Northumberland and that includes towns such as Prudhoe.

Although it may not be listed as a town in the drop down, we strive to promote West Northumberland and the wonderful things it has to offer. If there are any significant events happening in your area we’d be grateful if you could help us to encourage businesses to add them to the website to help us bring visitors to the county. This is free of charge and really easy to do, with event organisers being able to add them on the website: www.visitnorthumberland.com/add-event

What an amazing evening spent with the #Prudhoe guides & #Stocksfield guides as we learned about the fight for equality from the ‘inspirational’ Penny of Emily Inspires

To think how far we as a Country have come in a relatively short time, but still more work to be done.

What a fantastic group of young people & leaders.

Photo taken near the end of the evening – great to see Tracy the PTC mayor and PTC Cllrs taking part (as shown in the photo )

A very positive meeting this morning looking at access to #PrudhoeBusiness / parking for people with mobility issues.

Thanks to all who attended including ‘Spencer’ who is Kates new ‘best friend ‘ from Canine Partners.

We will as always keep everyone informed as far as practicable how improvements will be made to the town.

Making it easier for people to Visit Prudhoe

The ramp shown in the photo below costs only £60 and could solve a few access problems for customers.

Anti social behaviour

DD8725B9-6A89-4845-89D4-751BFD62DED4

Friday evening / night -pleased to participate in a multi agency operation which took place in Prudhoe to help raise awareness of anti social behaviour and also tackle it.

(The first of many to be held).

This was in conjunction with Northumbria Police PrudhoeTownCouncil Northumberland Youth Service working in collaboration with Schools from within the area as well as the Community Alcohol Partnerships

Bottles of alcohol were seized from an underage youth in West Wylam.

Warning notices were delivered to several parents regarding their child’s recent behaviour.

Many members of the public mentioned they were delighted that such positive and high profile action was being taken, this included some young people who also felt safer.

Off licences were visited during last night.

We are working with the licensees to reduce proxy sales.

Anti social behaviour levels in #Prudhoe are low compared with many other towns in the area, or elsewhere in the Country but we feel it is right we are tackling this together.

With even greater assistance from the public a lot more can be done.

Please report ALL incidents to the Police.

Do not buy / supply alcohol to under 18yrs.

If you do,it could lead to a conviction for a criminal offence.

Amazing that some parents provide alcohol to their children.

Your actions may have contributed to disorder / damage or even worse crime.

The vast majority of young people in this town are fantastic, and we do not want the lives of any of them to be harmed in anyway by them doing a stupid act whilst under the influence of alcohol.

Let’s all be #ProudOfPrudhoe

New local plan

New Local Plan approved for public consultation

The plan includes policies and proposals aimed at creating up to 15,000 new jobs in the county by 2036.

Through the plan we want to make Northumberland an even greater place to live, work and visit!

17,700 new homes are proposed over the plan period as opposed to 24,000 previously. It will ask for a minimum of 20% of all new homes to be affordable and make provision for accommodation with support for older people and vulnerable adults, for example in ‘extra care’ accommodation.

Preserving the green belt.

Prudhoe Riverside

We believe the Prudhoe riverside area is vital for recreation, #healthwalks #TynedaleSport and supporting #TynedaleTourism which all can help create / retain -#TynedaleJobs

As a result NCC, together with partners are investing to improve this area.

Landscaping, larger litter bins, access and more.

Getting a fair share for #Prudhoe #Tynedale

One of many reasons why people should Visit Prudhoe

(Although the sign says Thurs /Fri the work is well under way now)

Social mobility

A very inspirational morning at Prudhoe Community High School as Justine Greening MP visited to discuss with staff and students the subject of social mobility accompanied by Guy.

Amazing students, staff and building

They are all a huge part of the #PrudhoeCommunity.

#TynedaleJobs

We should all be #ProudOfPrudhoe

Really enjoyed chatting to a group of year 12 students about matters that impact upon their lives now and into the future and working on solving some of these.

Homes England land for sale

Homes England are now advertising land for sale within the #Prudhoe area.

(Old Hospital land)

It is common practice for this type of land to be sold on a regular basis, land is often put up for sale and never sold or it could take a long period to sell.

There should be no change regarding any public right of way or use of the land.

We have asked for a meeting with Homes England in relation to another matter, and when we meet we will obviously raise this point.

We have also contacted the agent to note our interest.

We have also alerted officers and interested organisations and will be working with them.

As always we will try to keep the public informed of anything of interest.

Please see post below re the new local plan & what it means, particularly about preserving the green belt.
