My position on this application (10/11/2022)
I was first elected as a County Cllr in May 2017, since that time I have been a member of the Strategic & Local area Council planning committees.
These meet usually on a monthly basis, and I have an excellent attendance record.
Therefore I have a lot of experience in the planning process.
In the main please disregard any previous planning applications for this site, some go back many years.
I am very much in favour of the land being used for new homes.
But I oppose it due to my concerns over the proposed access via Tilley crescent, as the road is not suitable for a number of reasons.
There are other concerns I have about the development but hope these are dealt with by the developer as the views of the public are made.
The applicant has withdrawn plans for the site on previous occasions, and may do again, but I just wanted to make public this brief summary of my position at this time.
I have recently called at all homes within my ward that are closet to the site and spoken to many residents.
I have encouraged people to make their opinion / suggestions known to NCC Planning dept, either via the portal or in writing.
This being if they are in favour of or against the development.
The vast majority of people I have spoken with including people residing in Tilley cres / Cross Street would like to see homes built on the site.
I hope the matter can be resolved so houses of various types and styles can be built on the site, allowing more people to make Prudhoe their home.
This would assist our local businesses, creation of jobs, filling of employment vacancies therefore supporting our Schools & medical services. (community gain etc)
