Northumberland fire & Rescue service

During a visit to meet the firefighters at Prudhoe station it was good to hear about issues impacting upon the great work they do.

They were concerned about the recruitment & retention of retained & full time firefighters.

They said other services had popular social media platforms.

We agreed this would have many benefits  and put the suggestion foward, as a result the service has now just introduced a facebook page  which immeditally became very popular, – Click here

Our support for the young people ‘The future of Prudhoe’ is so important to us all and we are pleased to help promote the ‘Young firefighters scheme’ – Click here

Others issues include accessabilty to areas due to parked vehicles –

We work closely with the fire & rescue service as well as the Police to raise the issue with the public on a periodical basis.

Multi agency meeting.

A meeting was held last week at Highfield Middle School (Thursday 15th  March 2018) to develop links between partners and encourage discussion. The meeting was convened hoping to agree a holistic approach concerning issues relating to young people in the town.

Those attending represented Business, Schools, Northumbria Police, Town Council, County Councillors & The NCC Youth Service as well as Parents, Carers and Governors.

Discussion included recent incidents of disorder & damage as well as the provision of support for the young people and their families.

The attendees brought with them a wealth of experience and suggestions which will be considered (and hopefully actioned) for the benefit of the whole community.
We envisage that this will be the first of many meetings focusing on the key objective:all parties joining forces to ensure the very best quality of provision for all.

Thank you !!

Gordon & Ken would like to express their sincere thanks to the many people who supported the community during the recent extreme weather conditions.

This includes the NCC Highways teams, NCC Local Services teams, NCC Communications team, Local farmers, Northumbria Police & the many volunteers who cleared snow and ice, ran errands, checked on vulnerable people etc to help the wider community.

NCC were well prepared for this extreme weather, with the best possible snow ploughs available and huge stocks of grit available.

Street lighting update 10/3/18

Gordon & Ken share residents concerns about various street lighting issues including the fact that residents report defective street lighting and no reply is received and the resident is left not knowing if the matter is being dealt with.

They have raised the issue at various levels and been assured that a new online reporting system is being looked at which will hopefully improve the customer service including updates to the enquirier.
