Many people are very disappointed that the large VE75 events have had to be cancelled, but we wish to reassure everyone that we are now planning VJ events for next year.

it is right that we show our respect for the many people who fought in the last world war Including those that lost their lives.

There has been huge support for this #StayAtHome Garden party.

We obviously can not have a party in the street as many had planned, so just adapt and party in your own garden.

Friday 8th May 2020 11am -3pm (same time as the original events were planned to take place).

With restrictions in place we are suggesting that residents may like to have a party in their own garden (keeping 2m distance from people not in their households)

Possibly with flags / bunting –

A great activity for the kids to get involved in- making the decorations.

Get the teapot & cakes out and just have some fun to cheer people up, like they did on the original VE Day.

Have music from the 1940s & the National anthem.

Front garden / back garden / side garden or if no garden decorate a room and chill !

Schools may like to take part, care homes if practicable.

We know many people are having more household parties in their gardens already due to the lockdown and thought this would be a good focus for people.

Reminder – Strictly adhere to the guidance.

**The ‘Lockdown’ extension announced on 17/4/20 is due to expire 7/5/20 (ie the day before this suggested event) – But is unknown at the time of writing this if this will be extended or amended **
