This page has been created to replace news items on this website, as the enquires are expected to be long running –

Updates will be provided here.

The NCC Planning portal relating to this land is CLICK HERE

Update 7/4/25

Weeds have to be removed from the site and herbicide sprayed.

The trees, bushes and vegetation overhanging the boundary of the site are to be attended to when bird nesting season ends as per the S215 Notice.

Update 1/4/25

The new owners have made a basic response to the County Council, and agreed to have the grassed area cut back as requested.

This has been done to a certain level, hopefully they will return and improve it even more.

So lots of questions remain unanswered, and enquiries continue.

Update 1/3/25

There are still no current planning applications.

The new owners have still failed to acknowledge communication.

A section 215 notice has been served upon the new owners,-

What does that mean ? CLICK HERE

(If it appears to the local planning authority that the amenity of a part of their area, or of an adjoining area, is adversely affected by the condition of land in their area, they may serve on the owner and occupier of the land a notice under this section).

I have requested a large amount of information from a partner organisation, it is expected to arrive in the next few weeks, I will then examine the information with others and decide if other organisations need to be contacted.

Update 12/1/25

The new owners are as uncooperative as the previous owner.

Although the public’s suspicions are obviously aroused by this it would be inappropriate to comment further here.

Work continues between various partner organisations to progress this enquiry.

The powers available to the council are not as great and as wide as some may think, the building is not in what is considered a dangerous state.

NCC will continue to push for action here but other organisations are better placed to deal with this effectively.

There are no current planning applications for the site in the system.

There are restrictions upon the use of the site, making it for sporting purposes only.

I would object to any change to this being made, it is extremely unlikely that any change of use would even be considered by various interested parties.

The access road to the site including the street lights are not owned by NCC they belong to the household waste site operator.

November 2024 update below-

With good assistance of the #PrudhoeCommunity I am aware of the new owners of this land and I am now in initial contact with them.

I am also in discussion with various NCC depts and other organisations.

As always further information will be made available when practicable.

June 2024

The owner of this land is not responding to requests to discuss the future use of it.

Open letter to the landowner-

‘As another football season is approaching I am asking you to work with me to bring it back to a useable state so local people can benefit from such a potentially great facility’.

‘Many people say they cannot understand why you are doing this’

‘Please end this standoff now’

‘I know of genuine interest from local people who would like to enter into discussions with you’

Thank you.

Note –

This is not NCC land so we have no power to take it on or make an order etc.

I am not aware of any NCC funding that has been provided for this centre or land.

This land is there for sport and I will not support its use for any other purpose.

I will make myself available at any time to progress this.

I know feelings are strong about this subject, please be careful about any comments you wish to make.

The local football club has no say over the future of this site, it is purely down to the landowner.
