

A consultation has been launched on plans to merge four Tyne Valley schools into two.
The consultation outlines plans to combine Mickley First School (MFS) with Broomley First School (BFS) onto the Broomley site and Prudhoe Castle First School (PCFS) with Ovingham CE First School (OFS) onto the Ovingham site.

(Two engagement events will be held on October 21 and November 4 at Prudhoe Community High School, with senior leaders and representatives from the relevant local authorities set to attend.
A final decision will be made following consultation by the CLT board and communicated in early January.

(Northumberland County Cllr, in the Prudhoe South ward, Gordon Stewart said: “I appreciate that this news may be causing interest and possibly concern from members of the community.
“I ask anyone with views to participate in the consultation; queries can be directed to the trust via the dedicated email address. The main consideration must remain the education of the young people.”

14/10/25 Briefings were given by Cheviot trust reps to County Cllrs.
It is understood the School staff were also informed on this date
